Medina Steak & Seafood Co.

The stagecoach stop celebrates 153 years

Celebrating its 153th Birthday in 2011, the building that is now the home to Medina Steak & Seafood Co. has quite a history. Harrison Blake is credited with having the building built in 1858 for use as a stagecoach stop. Blake, a former Colonel with the Union Army in the Civil War, became a U.S. Representative and also founded the Old Phoenix Bank, the Republican Party in Medina, and brought the first railroad to town.

There are stories, although undocumented, the building was also used as a stop for the Underground Railroad.

Over the years the building not only changed ownership, so did the services provided. From hotel to a brothel, bookie joint to a grocery store, saloon to steakhouse the building has been home to a diverse blend of Americana.

Patio          Throughout the years, the building has gone through changes; in 1997 the Liberty Inn became The Medina Steakhouse & Saloon after a brief renovation. In 2011 we became Medina Steak & Seafood Co. bringing a larger, more varied steak and seafood menu to our patrons. One thing has remained constant over the years, the desire to leave as much as the original building intact as possible. The stone foundation and wood floor, among a few other things, are believed to be part of the original building. We have added a patio and a heated front porch for your dining pleasure.

Even though Medina Steak & Seafood Co. can no longer offer you lodging or some of the past services the building provided, we can promise you great food and a glimpse into the past!
